London Irish Football Club won their second league game of the season on Sunday with a 3-1 away win over Nastaran Football Club. After a shocking start to the game the Irish found themselves 1-0 down after 5 minutes. The Irish continued with their poor form though out the first half wasting chances and trying to force something out of nothing. Thanks to some good defensive work by the Irish back four lead by Man of the Match Darren Morley, Irish remained still in the game. Irish Manager Shane Gavin was happy to see the first half come to a close. After a half time dressing down the Irish went out in the second half more vocal and determined but the game was still passing them by. With 20 minutes remaining and the Irish still a goal down Gavin made a few changes bring on Mark Kirby for Richard Covey and reshuffling the side. Irish were off flying, a quick one to with James Pearce and Darren lynch drew a corner. A quality delivery from Daniel Llewellyn saw Kirby rise highest and power a header to get the Irish level. Irish went in search of a winner now buoyant from the turn in form. Then the smallest man on the park James Pearce rose alone in the box and nodded the Irish in front after some great individual movement. Llewellyn was picking some delightful passes having moved from right back to his preferred and centre midfield post and released an inch perfect through ball to Pearce for him to get his second of the game and finish off the home side with a few minutes remaining on the clock. The 3-1 victory moved London Irish FC to 4th in the table and back on course for the Hendon and District League Premiership Title.

Vs Cashen Rovers FC (League) SCORE 3-3(D)
London Irish Football Clubs poor league form continued on Sunday with a shocking 3-3 draw at home to Cashen Rovers FC. Having both been promoted last Season to the Hendon Premier League this was always going to be a hard fought game of who wants it more. Irish started slow and Cashen chased and closed down the Irish at every opportunity giving the Irish no time to play there free flowing football. Cashen hard work paid off and were two goals to the good with a clever finish from Jonathan Taylor and an own goal from Irish centre back Paul Kinch. London Irish had to dig deep and before the break hard work from Daniel Meehan, chasing down the Cashen Keeper and making him make an error of judgement gave the Centre Forward another time to nick the ball around him and tuck the ball home into an empty net. An early sending off for Cashen in the second half would have made most side crumble but Cashen rallied together and a mistake at the back from Darren Morley sent Jonathan Taylor away and a tackle from behind in the box from Paul Kinch resorted in the referee pointing to the spot. Taylor picked himself of the ground to smash the ball home giving Cashen a 3-1 lead. Irish battled on and Cashen grew tired with only having 10 men and a good combination with Meehan and Alan Bolger sent Bolger though one on one and the classy Midfielder slotted the ball home with easy. With the clock ticking down Irish rose there game to another level and great running from substitute James Pearce found himself chopped down by the Cashen centre half and the Irish were awarded a penalty. Richard Covey stepped up for the Irish and there was no mistake Irish were level. 3-3 with only injury time in front of them both sides went for the winner. But it was Cashen who came closest in the dying seconds when Man of the Match Paul Fitzgerald saved a point black effort to earn London Irish a hard fought point

Vs Hampton Village FC (Middlesex Cup - Round 1) SCORE 2-5(W)
Mark Kirby inspired London Irish Football Club on a landmark day in the Middlesex Cup. The midfielders three goals made him the club's first player to score a hat trick in the opening rounds of the Middlesex Cup three seasons in a row. This thumping 5-2 win in the West London Vs Hampton Village Football Club saw the Irish sail into the second round looking unstoppable. London Irish hardline boss Shane Gavin expects nothing less than goals from his strikers and midfielders, saves from his keepers and tackling from his defenders but on Sunday he got more then that. The hottest October days to remember, starter with a scorcher from centre half Darren Morley. Who spotted the Hampton Keeper of his line and lobbed him from inside his own half putting the Irish 1-0 up after 5 minutes. Then minutes later a blistering run from right midfielder Darren Butterick seen him brought down inside the box. Irish Captain Mark Kirby fizzed the spot kick into the bottom right giving the keeper no chance. Kirby then blitzed home his second and Irish third on the stroke of half time from a John Mullen though ball. Going in 3-0 up at half time is always hard to motivate your team for a second half on the same but the London Irish boys were fully focused on the job in hand and when Hampton return in the second half a few heavy tackles soon made London Irish feel they had something to fight for. Butterick found the net after a great solo run to take the game out of sight. With the sun at its highest the game slowed an errors started to creep into the Irish play and before long Hampton breached the Irish back line and were of the mark. The Irish were then unlucky when Kirby slipped and his slip gave the ball to Hampton midfielder to riffle a shot from the edge of the box to make it 4-2. With minutes remaining Captain Kirby made up for is error and slammed home a right footed drive to restore the Irish three goal cushion and complete his hat trick. Irish kept the ball in the dying moments on the game to see out the Cup tie and sail into the second round of the Middlesex Cup.
